Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019 - The Millennium Bugs perform at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park (1480 Highway 88, Minden, NV). We play from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. For information, see https://www.dangberghomeranch.org/events. August 9-25, 2019 - I am a major organizer of the Jazz & Beyond Carson City Music Festival. In 2019 we will present or feature more than 100 musicians in more than 50 events. Friday, Aug. 16, 2019 - I conduct Tom Stryker's Big Band, an 8-piece harmonica ensemble, at 8:00 p.m. at the SPAH (Society for the Preservation and Advancement of the Harmonica) convention at the Tulsa Hyatt Regency in Tulsa, OK. The group will be performing one of my arrangements, along with other pieces. For information, see the SPAH website at https://www.spah.org/index.asp. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019 - The Mile High Jazz Band performs a "Basie Birthday" concert at McFadden Plaza in Carson City, starting at 7:30. (It's actually the day before his birthday, so don't get too upset.) The event is free.

This is my last performance prior to the coronavirus pandemic on March 15, 2020 shutting down future live performances.

Sunday, August 16, 2020 - Mile High Jazz Band Presented a video called "Moten Swing, performed by Mile High Jazz Band." It is available as an unlisted video on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhH-uEksGCg. The band presents its first virtual big-band recording, each individual part recorded by band members and guests artists in their homes in July 2020. This endeavor is one way for the MHJB to continue to work together as a group, even though the coronavirus prevents us from rehearsing together and performing for our dearly missed audience. Various dates in August - The 17th annual Jazz & Beyond Music and Art Festival was seriously disrupted by the coronavirus. It was originally scheduled to run from Aug. 7 through Aug. 23. All live performances at the beginning of the month were canceled or postponed. The new schedule has the festival starting on Aug. 19, 2020, with a drive-in movie showing of "High Society," featuring Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra, and Louis Armstrong. The festival will stretch into September (and perhaps later) with some live performances in front of a small audience, plus some live-streamed, streamed, and rebroadcast events on the Internet.

Thursday, October 29, 2020 - I perform on piano, with Rocky Tatarelli on tenor sax and Brandon Dodge on drums for memorial service for Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell at the Governor's Mansion.

No gigs in December 2020 - due to the pandemic Virtual TUBACHRISTMAS Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, we are not able to perform TUBACHRISTMAS ine Reno together in person this year. I made an arrangement called "Christmas Tuba Fantasy" featuring five Christmas tunes for tuba-euphonium quartet (2 euphonium parts and 2 tuba parts) to be used in a virtual project. We invited musicians from the Reno area, other parts of the United States, and abroad to be involved. The resulting video can be viewed at youtube.com/watch?v=-3cgjMHE5bc.

Tuesday, April 6, 2021 - David & Friends perform for talk and presentation at Minden (NV) Rotary Club at Carson Valley Inn at 11:30 a.m. Bill Melendres was on trumpet, George Worth was on bass, Brandon Dodge was on drums, and I was on piano and trombone.
Saturday, May 1, 2021 - Perform "second line" memorial for Will Rose in Silver City at 2:00 p.m. Will was a guitarist and entertainer. I was on tuba, Dean Carter was on trombone, Bill Melendres was on trumpet, and Brandon Dodge was on drum. Tuesday, May 11, 2021 - Mile High Jazz Band performs first dinner show (outdoors) at Living the Good Life from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This was MHJB's first gig in 14 months. Saturday, May 15, 2021 - I perform on piano and trombone with Adam Cohen (guitarist & leader), Tim Goldsmith (bass), and Brandon Dodge (drums) in front of Shelby's Bookshoppe in Minden from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Sunday, July 4, 2021 - Carson City Symphony - with Carson Chamber Singers, vocalist Jakki Ford, and Joyful Noise Children's Choir - perform for Genoa Americana Celebration in Mormon Station State Park at 4:30. Tuesday, July 6, 2021 - Mile High Jazz Band performs second dinner show (outdoors) at Living the Good Life from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021 - I perform on piano and trombone with Adam Cohen (guitarist & leader) and others for Carson City Farmer's Market from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Aug. 13-29, 2021 - Jazz & Beyond Carson City Music & Art Festival. I am one of the chief organizers of the event, now in its 18th season. Events listed at http://JazzCarsonCity.com. Tuesday, August 24, 2021 - Mile High Jazz Band and Carson High School jazz band perform a joint concert at McFadden Plaza, probably at 7:00 p.m. Up until March 2020, most Mile High Jazz Band gigs were on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at either Living the Good Life (Jan., Feb., April, May, July, August, Oct., and Nov.) or at Comma Coffee (March, June, Sept., and Dec.).
