September 2009
Tues., September 8, 2009 - The Mile High Jazz Band and vocalist Sheryl Adams will be joined by local poets for a lively evening of big-band jazz music and poetry. The topic, "Fame and Fortune," will be presented at Comma Coffee on Tuesday, March 10, 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., and all are welcome. Krista Benjamin, Rita Geil (pictured at left), and other award-winning poets will be featured. Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street, is across the street from the state legislature building in Carson City. Admission is $5 general and free for age 18 and under. Swing dance instruction from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. is $5 additional. For more information, call the Mile High Jazz Band at 775-883-4154.


Mon., Sept. 14, 2009 - The Carson City Music Club presents "David Bugli and Friends," performing jazz for the CCMC monthly meeting at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 West King St., Carson City. I will be playing piano, and joining me are Dan Lancaster on reeds, Tom Stryker on harmonica, Gerry Wright on soprano sax, George Worth on bass, and Mark Ashworth on drums. The concert starts at 7:00 p.m. Call 882-9517 for information about admission charge.

Tues., Oct. 13, 2009 - Mile High Jazz Band performs at Comma Coffee - 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., Admission: $5 admission, FREE age 18 and under

Thurs., Oct. 8, 2009 - I will be delivering a talk on the upcoming Carson City Symphony concert to the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) in Reno at 10:00 a.m.

Sun., Oct. 25, 2009, 4:00 p.m., Carson City Community Center - I conduct the Carson City Symphony concert featuring Swedish pianist Carl Petersson in the U.S. premiere of Concerto No. 2 by Freidrich von Flotow, and the world premiere of "By Walden Pond" by Gwyneth Walker, narrated by Lee Warner. Johann Strauss' "Tales of the Vienna Woods" and Franz von Suppe's "The Beautiful Galatea" Overture are also on the program.

 

November 2009
Tues., Nov. 10, 2009 - Mile High Jazz Band performs at Comma Coffee in a special program featuring guest male vocalists - 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., Admission: $5 admission, FREE age 18 and under

Sat., Nov. 21, 2009 - I will be performing on low brass (tuba and/or bass trombone) with the Ruby Mountain Symphony in at concert at 7:00 p.m. at the Elko County Convention Center. The concert will feature country singer Lacy J. Dalton, who will be performing several of my arrangements of her classic tunes.

 

December 2009
Tues., Dec. 8, 2009 - Mile High Jazz Band performs "Jazz & Poetry" at Comma Coffee - 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., Admission: $5 admission, FREE age 18 and under

A Saturday in December (likely) - Reno TUBACHRISTMAS at the Wilbur D. May Museum in Reno. Likely 3:00 p.m. performance. Details to be determined.

Sun. , Dec. 13, 2009, 4:00 p.m., Carson City Community Center - I will be conducting the 26th annual "Holiday Treat" Concert by the Carson City Symphony, the Carson Chamber Singers, and guest performers.

 

January 2010
Tues., Jan. 12, 2010 - Mile High Jazz Band performs at Comma Coffee - 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., Admission: $5 admission, FREE age 18 and under

Fri., Jan. 15 or 22, 2010 - Likely date of the seventh annual "Jazz Extravaganza," involving the Mile High Jazz Band and the Carson High Jazz Band. This yearly event raises money to help send the Carson High School jazz performers to music events, such as the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in Moscow, Idaho.

 

February 2010
Tues., Feb. 9, 2010 - Mile High Jazz Band performs at Comma Coffee - 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., Admission: $5 admission, FREE age 18 and under

Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010 - I conduct the Carson City Symphony concert featuring guest percussionist Terry Longshore in Pataruco: Concerto for Maracas and Orchestra by Ricardo Lorenz. 4:00 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center.

 

March 2010
Tues., March 9, 2010 - Mile High Jazz Band performs "Jazz & Poetry" at Comma Coffee - 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., Admission: $5 admission, FREE age 18 and under

 

April 2010
Tues., April 13, 2010 - Mile High Jazz Band performs at Comma Coffee - 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., Admission: $5 admission, FREE age 18 and under

Saturday, April 24, 2010, 7:30 p.m., Carson City Community Center, and Sunday, April 25, Oats Park Arts Center, Fallon (location to be confirmed) - I conduct the Carson City Symphony in a concert featuring a guest soloist (to be determined).

 

May 2010
Tues., May 11, 2010 - Mile High Jazz Band performs at Comma Coffee - 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., Admission: $5 admission, FREE age 18 and under

 

June 2010
A Sunday in June, 2010, 3:00 p.m. (Note new time!!), Governor's Mansion (outdoors) - "Pops Party" Concert - Carson City Symphony directed by David Bugli, with Carson Chamber Singers directed by Judy Monson, and guests. Admission free.

Most Comma Coffee gigs are on the second Tuesday of each month.
